Challenge [185]: Heatwave
Title: Flame

Notes: This is an older one of mine but I haven't used it for anything like this. o-o I'll take it down if that's against the rules or something.

He'd always loved fire.

There was a flame in his heart, always. Camping with his family, poking at the glowing embers of a marshmallow arson site, that was his favorite pastime.

There was always a lighter between his fingers when he wasn't near a real fire. Flickering it, flat on his back in his bedroom while he listened to his parents bark at each other above his basement room. His one escape, the flame at his fingertips.

His parents hadn't been good with names. 'Lea', they'd called him, and though he'd protested it was a girl name, there was no escaping from 'Lea'.

He tattoos his face one day, just for something to do. Black tears on either cheek. He's fine with this, and his parents don't even notice.

That's fine with him.

When finally his heart breaks, Lea has disappeared.

The only thing left is Axel, and the fire.

Ohh, okay. :3 I didn't see anything in the rules about older work, so I wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing it up!
