Title: A Few of My Favorite Things
Word Count: 434
Spoilers: Some spoilers for 358/2 Day and/or BBS. I think so, anyway. Anyone that's seen the BBS trailer shouldn't be too spoiled, but I'll put the spoiler warning here just to be safe. :)
Rating: PG
Notes: Yeah, I dunno about this one hahaha. The prompt made this random scenario enter my brain, so I rolled with it. The original ending was pretty angsty, but I didn't want to start the new year on an angsty note, so I edited that whole section out. ^^; Title of the drabble is taken from the song "My Favorite Things".
Summary: Sharing the joy that is Sea-Salt Ice Cream.
The moment that Isa arrives at the park and meets his friend by the fountain, a suspiciously blue bar of ice cream is shoved in his face, courtesy of a grinning Lea. Blinking at the bar, it takes Isa a moment to process this new situation.
"Lea," Isa begins in what Lea has come to learn is his 'explain yourself or else bad things will happen' voice. "What's this?"
Snorting like that's the stupidest thing Isa has ever asked, Lea pulls the ice cream bar back just enough for Isa to get a better look. "Ice cream. What's it look like?"
Sometimes, Isa wonders why they're friends.
"Clearly," he dryly retorts. "But I've never seen that kind before."
Shrugging, Lea shifts on his feet and shoves his free hand into his pocket. "It's called Sea-Salt Ice Cream."
"Sea-Salt Ice Cream?"
Lea grins again. "Yep. I found a stand that sells it a while back. 's pretty good, so I got you some."
Pursing his lips, Isa warily eyes the ice cream bar. How anything that's called Sea-Salt Ice Cream is good, he doesn't know, nor does he particularly care to find out. "How thoughtful of you."
In an attempt to rid his friend of all reluctance, Lea waves the ice cream in Isa's face, which sends drops of ice cream flying this way and that. "Dude, it's not going to bite you. Just take it."
Isa gives Lea a pointed look. "I know it's not going to bite me, idiot." As if to prove his statement, he grabs the bar from Lea's hand, frowning a little as it immediately drips onto his own hand. Well, now he has to eat it, otherwise it's just going to melt on his hand, right? That was probably Lea's plan all along, the tricky bastard.
After giving the melting ice cream a final stare, Isa nibbles a little on the bar, and the strange taste he's greeted with makes his eyes narrow. Salty (as was expected, given its name), but it isn't all that bad. The sweetness makes up for it, and although he isn't really crazy for sweets, it isn't sweet enough to make him feel like he is in danger of immediately getting a cavity or two.
"Well?" Lea prods, raising a brow.
Isa pauses for a moment before turning to his friend, smirking slightly. "You have a weird taste in ice cream."
Lea barks a laugh at that, his green eyes gleaming in smug delight. "I knew you'd like it."
Isa rolls his eyes, and he takes another bite of ice cream to hide his smile.

I agree, their friendship really is interesting, and I'm curious to see what it's really like. They seem like such a dysfunctional pair to me, but I like to think they have a fairly good understanding of one another beneath it all.
Thanks! <3

Date: 2010-01-02 12:26 am (UTC)I do wonder, though, how this could possibly have an angsty ending. Doesn't seem possible, does it?

Date: 2010-01-02 05:58 am (UTC)Haha, it wouldn't seem so, I suppose. It was going to end with a scene set in the future, but it was kind of a downer, so I left the drabble as it is now. I'm more content with it this way, I think.
