title: shed some light on things
wordcount:256
notes: let’s be sappy…hell it’s giving aid to haiti let’s be anything
It was redundant to say it. It had been implied in a million different worlds, thought of under every star that lived in the sky. Enemies had died because they threatened it. Everybody knew it, but it had to be said.
Kairi wanted to wipe the sweat from her neck and shield her face. The sun was at it’s zenith and her eyes were flooded with heat and light.
Instead she stood still, looking past his shoulder. The ocean was shining, bright lights for miles.
Sora wanted to puke. This wasn’t for him – no tact, no eloquence, no big words.. The last time he had spoken beautifully was when he was pleading for her life.
And now it had to be said. Maybe it could be simple; everybody already knew. Her hand was small and hot in his, and yes, he had killed for her. Everything was over, now, except for the crush he’d had from the start.
“I,” choke.
“I,” it was too hot, it was weird. Make it simple, make it easy.
“I love you.” One sentence, fast, spewed out before Sora breathed in humid air. It felt like the fresh air of Christmas Town and Kairi felt like every holiday the worlds had dreamed. It felt like her birthday.
She hugged him to her, and said, “I love you, too.”
He did register the slight squish against his chest as the paopu fruit he had stealthily stashed for this moment imploded under her weight. But...he figured they could formally finish that plotline later.
