Challenge [227]: Feast for the Starving

Title: Feast for the Starving
Word Count: 141
Notes: So I kind of took 'food' as 'nourishment' and ran with it to the border of relevance. Hope this works well enough!
This world is too bright. This world, that world, all the worlds, all too bright: wrong.
The darkness is good. The darkness nourishes, protects, feeds. They are safe in the darkness.
The worst thing of all are the hearts, like beacons blazing in each and every chest, ready to reduce everyone and everything to cinder and ash with their light. They wonder, how can anything live like that? How can anything survive with no sustenance and only that light ready to burn them from the inside out?
If they could, they would feel pity for these poor starving creatures, denied the feast that makes them strong.
But they are not entirely without understanding. They show sympathy in the only way they can: by swarming forward to share what they have.
Another star goes out that night, and another world is fed.

I especially love this line. The turn around in perspective in this piece is fantastic.
