Long after the adventure ends, long after he returns to Destiny Island with Kairi and Riku and their normal lives, Sora lies down with his back against the sand, the smell of the sea around him, the breeze in his hair.

When he closes his eyes, he hears it. A soft whisper mixed in among the sloshing of the water nearby. It is a voice that’s not his own, but still so familiar, and not only because Sora hears the voice every time he remembers the past. The voice feels like part of him.

He can’t make out the words, but they sound genuinely full of happiness. Sometimes, he likes to think that the voice is thanking him for everything he has done and that, somehow along the way, he has helped the owner of that voice as well.

When he opens his eyes again, Sora is alone on the beach.
