Title: Sins That Shadows Hide

Spoilers: For major BBS plot points. Post-game speculation.
Notes: Um. I don't know if this is too explicit for the community. It's suggestive but not graphic, but, er, if it's still too much, let me know and I'll take it down.
Aqua has been told to stay away from Terra. That even with Xehanort gone, he is too volatile. Too raw with darkness. He may not want to hurt her, but he may do it anyway. Someday he will want to see her-- but not yet.
His bedroom is down the hall from hers.
One night, she slips out of her room to take a peek. It's so mundane, she's surprised. He's lying there on moon-silvered sheets, hair dark against a pillow. The same Terra she knows, only-- the darkness in the air is so thick she can taste it.
She closes his door, shuts it away.

Maybe she likes to live dangerously, because the next night, protected by shadows, she slips into his bed.
That night, they sleep peacefully, side by side. She can feel the undercurrents of darkness pulsing slowly in him, but it's a constant, steady thing like his breathing. Not burning. Not reaching out for her.
In the morning, she wakes with her hand tucked into his.
She slips out of bed in the grey light with a mumbled apology, heads back to her room before she's caught.

On the second night, they sleep peacefully again, waking with hands entwined.
On the third night, Terra presses his body against hers and doesn't pull away. She feels a strange sensation against her neck, finally remembers that it's what a kiss feels like.
She rolls over, and-- kissing him has always felt like falling into something wild, but there's more of it this time.
When she opens her eyes, she sees his eyes glinting gold in the moonlight.
For a minute she freezes; then he brushes a lock of hair gently from her forehead, and kisses her again.
It's still him, even with the darkness. (But it was there all along; she just never wanted to see it.) She knows it's him, by what follows. The way he touches her. The way he moves. Things that can't be duplicated, even by stealing from another's memory.
Afterwards, she lies beside him, wondering what it says about her that she wasn't repulsed by his darkness. That she liked the wildness that overtook him.
She doesn't know, but guilt bubbles up inside her. I won't let it happen again, she tells herself. Not until he has more control.
The next night, he turns to her and kisses her, with darkness seething in his blood again. She doesn't push him away.
(But she presses her fingers against her throat and casts a spell of silence, so she can't betray herself by crying out.)

Later on, she tries to see if she can tame it. When he moves to kiss her, she wrestles him down-- he has the edge in strength, but she has the edge in magic and technique.
Finally she wins, and he stops struggling and lies against the mattress, breathing heavily.
His eyes glint, and the darkness whispers: Even though I've lost, I've still won. Look how I've made you mad with passion.
For a few moments she stares at him, recognizing the sensations flowing through her body. Then she touches fingers to her throat and casts a silence spell.
She's always heard that darkness resists submitting to light, but his doesn't seem to mind.

And she still can't speak the forbidden words: I want you to stay like this, just as you are.
