Title: Out of Reach
Word Count: 477
Notes: BbS spoilers for Terra's story.
Once the boy was given a chance to wield a powerful weapon such as the Keyblade, all he did was dream.
The beginning of his life wasn't too great, but the next chapter would be perfect.
He would make sure of it.
Terra would train for as long as he could. Before the sun would come up, he'd sneak out of his room and run into the courtyards. If he didn't pass out, by the hour of midnight he'd sneak back into his room and hopefully catch an hour's worth of sleep.
"Terra, you're going to kill yourself." Aqua cried when he collapsed. "You're taking a break. No ifs or but-"
He could barely hold his head up or open his eyes, but the thought of stopping even if it were just a day was out of the question.
Terra pushed himself up, shaking his head. "I will be fine, Aqua." He muttered, slowly walking to his room.
"Terra!" She scowled, grabbing his wrist.
Sharply, he pulled it away. "Leave me alone, Aqua." His voice was higher now. Higher than he intended, he could tell by the startled look on her face that he screamed.
Aqua didn't say a word after that, and ran outside.
Terra continued to brood after that, his veins felt cold like ice. In his room he paced back and forth, ready to faint.
Any second now…
With one simple blow, he struck at the wall with a grunt.
Looking down at his fingers to see the aftermath, he certainly did not see blood. The Darkness flowed out of him, icy and sharp as ever.
"What have I done?" He whispered.
-
He never wanted any of this. He tried to be the good guy, and help his friends.
That's. All. He. Wanted.
"All I meant… was good." He whispered. But now the Darkness no longer lurks inside of Terra - no, it lives and breathes inside of Terra. "I failed them all… including myself."
This is the story of a boy of had a dream, but little did he know that such a dream was so far out of reach.
"What a pathetic child… to think that he could bear the Keyblade when he was so full of Darkness himself? Despicable. Look at me, boy. You have lost."
He couldn't hear the cackles anymore. He couldn't hear the mockery anymore.
He couldn't feel the hurt anymore. He couldn't feel the pain anymore.
Terra supposed that it was just meant for him to suffer like this.
It was apart of who he was meant to be.
