Hi! New here! I've been reading this comm periodically for some time, and finally managed to make myself write for it. This prompt wouldn't leave me alone. :)
I don't know if it's too late to count for the challenge, since the deadline is past but the "challenge closed" post isn't up yet. If so, I'm fine with that.
Challenge: [275] Legend
Title: We Finally Meet
Word Count: 123
Notes: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE END OF BBS.
--------------------
“…but she couldn’t save them both. Her sacrifice was the last chance to try it, but it didn’t work.”
Kairi’s grandmother Knew Things, including how to tell the right story to explain why the girl wasn’t coming back, the one who had shone light so brightly – and briefly – into her granddaughter’s life.
Kairi clenched her small fists. “I don’t like the way that story ends! I want her to save both her friends! It’s… it’s not fair!” She lost her fight with childish tears.
“Now, now,” her grandmother chided. “The story may not be over. She may still be waiting for that one stroke of destiny, to be able to save her friends.”
--------------------
The two women stared at each other. “You,” Kairi breathed.
