Challenge: Brightest
Title: Sleeping stars

Notes: Sorry if it sounds incoherent in places; I’ve shamelessly rushed this <3

His fingernails continually scraped against the concrete ground, sending addictive shivers up his spine.

"Where are you?" he whispered as he searched the sky for hope.

"What you looking for?"

Sora, slightly startled by Leon's voice, politely smiled. "Where are the stars tonight?"

"The stars? You can't see them. At least, not tonight you can't." Leon made himself comfortable next to the boy. "Why?"

"Because," Sora murmured, "someone once told me that if I look for the brightest star, I'd be able to see the person who I'm missing. Where I came from, stars showered every night, but I didn't need to look for the brightest one because she was there, with me, by my side." He rubbed his eye and softly laughed. "The day that I'm so far away from her is the day that the stars fell asleep..."

Leon began to look at the sky, too. Despite knowing that it was a hopeless quest, he still felt as if he had to help. "What's her name?"

"Huh?"

"The girl you’re looking for. What's her name?"

Sora smiled, weakly. "Mom."
